COVID-19 Update: Further extensions of time granted

On June 9, 2020, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) announced a further extension of time in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, to July 3, 2020.  This means that most deadlines for taking action before CIPO, falling within the time period beginning on March 16, 2020 and ending on July 3, 2020, are now deemed extended to Monday, July 6, 2020. 

CIPO has not yet indicated if this will be the final extension period granted, but is monitoring provincial and federal guidelines and will review procedures as the situation continues to unfold.

CIPO remains open and in operation at this time.  While clients should expect delays with respect to some services, CIPO has gradually resumed most of its activities.
