Welcome Dr. David Barrans - our newest patent professional

We are pleased to announce that Dr. David Barrans has joined our team of patent professionals at Cassan Maclean as a Patent Agent.  David received a Ph.D. from the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, University of Toronto, with a focus on molecular cardiology/cardiovascular genomics.

David is a registered Canadian Patent Agent and comes to us with close to 15 years of experience in the intellectual property profession, having trained and practiced previously with two national Canadian law firms.  His expertise includes the drafting and prosecution of numerous patent applications, particularly in diverse areas of biotechnology, and he has experience in worldwide patent portfolio management and filing strategies. 

David regularly attends the annual Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) International Convention.  He also enjoys giving presentations on the patenting process, and has spoken to audiences in the academic setting.
